The Bible teaches that we should bring up a few prophecies and carefully weigh what is said to determine if the prophecy and prophets are true or false. We have to be careful as there are false prophets out there, who only pretend to be prophets of God, but themselves may have evil intentions. If a prophet speaks against what is written in the Bible, then most likely they are not the prophet of God. We also need to keep in mind that some prophecies take years and decades to come to fruition; before we try to cast stones.
1 Corinthians 14:29 – Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said.
Matthew 7:15 – Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Galatians 1:8 – But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!
Habakkuk 2:3 – For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
Habakkuk 2:3 (NIV) – For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.
Habakkuk 2:3 (AMP) – “For the vision is yet for the appointed [future] time. It hurries toward the goal [of fulfillment]; it will not fail. Even though it delays, wait [patiently] for it, Because it will certainly come; it will not delay.
2 Corinthians 13:1 – “By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.”
Ecclesiastes 11:2 – But divide your investments among many places, for you do not know what risks might lie ahead.
Ecclesiastes 11:6 – Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.
1 Chronicles 16:22 – “Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.”
2 Chronicles 36:16 – But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed at his prophets until the wrath of the LORD was aroused against his people and there was no remedy.
Luke 10:16 – “Whoever listens to you listens to me (Jesus); whoever rejects you rejects me (Jesus); but whoever rejects me (Jesus) rejects him (God – Father) who sent me.”
1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 – Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good.
Acts 2:17 – And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
Revelation 1:3 – Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
2 Chronicles 20:20 – Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.”
1 Corinthians 13:9 NIV – For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
1 Corinthians 13:9 NLT – Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture!
Deuteronomy 18:20-22 – But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.” You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.
Ecclesiastes 9:16 – But I say that wisdom is better than strength, though the poor man’s wisdom is despised and his words are not heeded.
1 Corinthians 14:31 – For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged.
1 Corinthians 14:3 – But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.
Proverbs 13:22 – A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is laid up for the righteous.
Exodus 3:22 – Every woman is to ask her neighbor and any woman living in her house for articles of silver and gold and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And so you will plunder the Egyptians.”
Ecclesiastes 2:26 – To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
