How to Buy Digital Silver and Gold Without KYC on Algorand

Did you know you can buy digital Silver and Gold, without KYC, on the Algorand Blockchain? You can then hold digital certificates of the Silver/Gold you bought, in your Non-Custodial Algorand Pera Wallet. Pera Wallet is open-source and compatible with Ledger hardware wallet. You can also convert (redeem) the silver/gold in Pera Wallet, for real/physical gold/silver through Imperial Bullion (Australian dealer).

I just did this myself. I sent 20 dollars worth of Algorand to my Pera Wallet. And then swapped my Algo for Gold and Silver on Folks.Finance (similar to Pancakeswap).

Step 1: Download the Pera Wallet app (android/iphone). The Pera Wallet website gives you the app QR code — I suggest using to make sure you download the right one. Create a new account and save the seedphrase somewhere safe. Set mobile app pin. Send some Algo crypto to your wallet.

Step 2: Go to Folks.Finance website and click connect wallet.

Step 3: Approve the connection in Pera Wallet. You can click disconnect once you’ve bought your silver/gold.
Step 4: Click Swap and select which token (Gold/Silver) you want to swap for the Algo in your wallet
Step 5: Your Pera Wallet should now display the Gold/Silver you purchased.

You can swap Algorand for Gold/Silver, by connecting your Pera Wallet to Pact.fi or Folks.finance defi sites and clicking swap. These sites are basically like Pancakeswap. The Pera Wallet has a built-in swap feature, but I have not tested it.

I found this very strange. In the Terms and Services below, it says people in America are not allowed to trade Algo with each other using the Pera Wallet. That makes no sense since Algo is trading everywhere in USA. There is no law against it. And Pera Wallet is non-custodial. You have the seed phrase and the wallet company doesn’t have access to your crypto wallet. Wonder if this is some old language that was never updated. I guess worst case scenario you could just use a vpn to mask your location.
